Agarwood

Agarwood, also known as oud, develops when a tree of the Aquilaria genus produces dark aromatic resin in response to injury. Resin is distributed unevenly through the wood, so origin, maturity, resin content, and processing have a strong influence on fragrance. The collection includes regional expressions associated with Hainan, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Pursat, Koh Kong, Brunei, Guangdong, and Hong Kong in stick and oil formats. Oud may smell cool and green, honeyed, fruity, resinous, leathery, or deeply woody. Grade labels can help distinguish products within a particular seller’s system, but they are not a universal international scale.
