This unusual Taihangshan thuja comes from wild high-altitude wood affected by forest fire and harvested in 2020. After the fire, the wood entered the soil and remained naturally sealed within it. Time, moisture and limited air initiated a slow fermentation that transformed the raw material before it was made into incense.
Compared with the cleaner and more airy S-61, this expression is darker, denser and more oil-rich. It opens with vivid camphor-like freshness and warm fire-touched wood, then develops dark honeyed sweetness, roasted nuances and a softly balsamic body. Deeper layers bring aged cedar, mineral earth and a restrained smoky accent. The aroma is bright and persistent, but fermentation rounds its sharper edges and gives the composition an unusually deep, cohesive finish.
Taihangshan thuja is known in China as Ya Bai and is traditionally used to create a composed atmosphere for quiet reflection and incense practice. Place one stick in a stable, heat-resistant incense holder, light the tip and gently extinguish the flame so it smoulders. Burn only in a ventilated space, never leave unattended, and keep away from children, pets and flammable materials.
