These incense sticks are made from wild high-altitude thuja harvested in the Taihang Mountains in 2018. Growing slowly in a harsh mountain climate, the wood develops a high concentration of aromatic oils. Before production, the material was carefully aged and lightly fermented to soften sharper coniferous facets and bring its sweeter, deeper character forward.
The aroma opens with cool mountain freshness and a gentle camphor-like mint nuance. It then warms into a rich fruit-and-honey sweetness with creamy, milky undertones. The base is deep and woody, recalling aged cedar and sandalwood, with a subtle mineral accent associated with the rocky landscape. Rich and persistent, the fragrance remains balanced rather than heavy.
Known in China as Ya Bai, Taihangshan thuja is traditionally appreciated for creating a composed atmosphere during quiet reflection and meditation. Place one stick in a stable, heat-resistant incense holder, light the tip and gently extinguish the flame so it smoulders. Burn only in a ventilated space, never leave unattended, and keep away from children, pets and flammable materials.
